Cat Picture - OC This lil guy followed me home after I intervened him getting attacked by a bigger cat.
I heard him screaming from almost half a kilometre away and instinctively got up from my couch and went searching for the crying noises. Found him in a standoff with a bigger male cat with some scratches. Called to him and he immediately ran and took cover behind me. 5 months later and all vaccinations completed he’s now the best cat ever!

’The world needs more people like OP.’
now i lay me down to sleep,
i wish i found someone to keep
a lonely kitten, small like me -
a human friend, who’s meant to be
i hear there’s some who are like that -
they have a puppy, or a cat
of maybe Both! or two, or three
n maybe have
some room
for me…
but now, so far away that seems,
but i imagine in my dreams
to find a kind Forever friend!
Someone to make
the lonely
end…

Every few months I suddenly get reminded that you exist and it is just so awesome.

Yeah, though I've now got images of two cats planning a fight, "right, start crying, and when he comes over just zoom on over there. Once you've got him, DON'T let him get away."

The CDS must have put us on the bottom of the list after our first CDS cat. Two shelter cats was a fine alternative though.
16
u/JustHereForCookies17 5h ago
Sometimes delivery isn't available in your area, even temporarily. Thank you for availing yourself of the CDS Distribution Center (aka Shelter).
Due to your proactive participation & newly reduced capacity for deliveries, I wouldn't be surprised if you end up with one of the famed r/TrojanCats in the near future.

Plot twist: that’s how the older male cat gets all the baby cats adopted and off the streets. Pretends to attack them so a human saves them😂

Look just because all three strays I took in only show me affection when they want treats and then go straight back to treating me like the high school geek they would never be caught dead hanging out with does not mean they’re using me just for treats!

That's sort of how I got my 5th cat, Nala, from Egypt. Was at a resort, she was roughly 3 months old, no longer with the rest of her litter but in another corner of the resort, and there an adult cat was also chasing and attacking her. So yeah, couldn't leave her. Had to wait for a rescue org to prepare her for entry into the EU (rabies vaccine, test, 3 months wait period, and then she came with a flight buddy).

Awww your story was what I needed today. Reminds me of getting my sweet orange boy Pork when he was a kitten! He was on his lonesome too when he was found, but we’ve been inseparable through several states and a cross country move over the last 13 years! I have two others too (Mimi and Kiki) who he’s deeply bonded with.
Much love to you and your cat distribution system blessing! I’m glad he’s an orange boy too. Sweetest, silliest little guys :)

I love how some cats are just demons, but the ones you save from lesser conditions usually seem to repay the favor with affection and gratefulness.
My kitty had a decent first 5y or so with the girl that got him as a kitten, but she moved in with her boyfriend and their dog and then two kids all living in boyfriend's mom's basement and eventually he was condemned to the furnace room 90% of the time. He became mischievous and bothersome to them (seeking attention) chewing on things etc. They moved to a house and we're going to dump him at the humane society when they moved because his mom didn't allow the cat upstairs and they were done with his chewing...
He is the happiest loving kitters I could imagine. He does go to chew on something if his food bowl is empty (he literally drags a kids croc or something over in front of you and starts chewing it to get your attention only when that happens) or if he's ignored for a super long time when he wants love, but if he gets attention and love (no shortage in my house) he is the sweetest cuddly loverboy on the planet and you can just TELL he's so grateful to have space to roam and explore and observe and someone to love him. The poor guy had fur thinning in front of his ears from headbutting the sharp ductwork alone in the furnace room. Now he's the happiest cat I ever had.

OP: pspspss…come on, I love you, I will feed you. Cat: I guess I wouldn’t mind a bite of dinner. OP: That big tough cat was so mean…keep coming, almost there.
Spouse: Why do you have a cat?
OP: It followed me home! There was nothing I could do!

In my experience, if you save a cat in need they pretty much instantly imprint on you.
When we found our void baby, he was in an ice storm, faced off with a raccoon. Technically my gf and I both found him, but because I was closer at the time, he chose my arms to jump into. And he’s been obsessed with me ever since. He loves his mom too. But not as much as dad.

Animals who have seen shit know exactly how good they have it with a good human. My dog was a stray as a puppy and then spent almost a year in shelters before we adopted him from a second chance rescue. You can just tell that even after 13 years with us, he remembers and is eternally grateful.
This is Pluto. The goodest boy. (sorry, doggo in a cat sub but felt obligated to pay the tax.)

I doubt i’m the only one who has or will say this to you but: in case you keep it, make sure you get the cat all its shots and vaccinations because it is a stray and you don’t want to put yourself in danger. Hope everything goes well!

We rescued ours. My daughter managed to get them out of a bad situation in an apartment when no one else could. The vet tech asked her, "You got them out of there?" She didnt feel like she had a choice.
