I'd be very interested to see how this correlates to actual racist behaviors - the use of slurs, the assumption of superiority of a white candidate over a black one, etc.
I assume those are higher in the older group that self-identifies as racist less often, but it would be interesting to see data about it.
As an Iranian i have to see some of my fellow countryman say America will save us. I do wonder how they’re gonna twist this to fit the narrative. They already the excused the oil, the houses, the civilians and the historical sites in their minds by now so this should be interesting.

As a fellow Iranian-American, this is why you can’t make excuses for racism against any race (well that and also because racism should be anathema to any civilized human being). Basically the only people who don’t consider Iranians as Arabs are Iranians and Arabs, in my experience. Racists don’t exactly discriminate with a fine toothed comb.
Most of the Muslim world knows the difference between Persians and Arabs just fine. Especially those regions that were influenced by both cultures like Muslims of South Asia.
Idk man—the only Muslims I’ve met (outside of the Iranians I knew back in Iran) have been immigrants in the US. And basically all of them (except for the Iranians and Arabs) lump Iranians and Arabs into the same category. This has been especially true, in my experience, with Sunni Turks. I suppose I’ve never met anybody from Indonesia, so I can’t speak to the predominant mentality over there.
So true!!! Racism doesn’t have a preferred minority that is fine, they come for us all. Thankfully at least here in Europe a good number of ppl do understand that Iranians, Arabs and Turks are all different people from what I’ve seen in the time I’ve been here

Trump has always just said flat out crazy shit and his supporters always love him more. The problem is internally they believe that trump is on the right side and he means well.
So these "white" iranians will hear this and think, oh he obviously means all the religious shia iranians and not us. And they agree cause they also hate those other Iranians.

don’t actually care at all what he does politically. Gas could be $20 a gallon, and he could admit to his involvement with Epstein live on TV.

It’s this, the “us vs them” mentality. They truly don’t care because every time I argue with my dad with actual facts, he starts yelling to shut me up. Man relies on a largely immigrant staff at the VA to keep him alive when he’s regularly ill, wouldn’t care if they somehow all disappeared.
Because he sadly represents a large portion of our country that has bigoted, nazi-adjacent views. When he was elected in 2016, suddenly so many people I knew in life felt comfortable saying how they truly felt because someone was now in power who made it seem OK to publicly be this way. Unfortunate. Obviously we’re a divided nation because there’s a good chunk of us who don’t condone his BS but we feel stuck; If we act against them, it just gives him more reason to feel like he can pull the Insurrection Act. We basically have to wait out for natural causes, an unfortunate accident, or a new admin entirely and hopefully start holding them accountable.

My wife and her family are from Iran. I can guarantee they have done more and been more of a positive influence in this country than that orange shit stain.
Not only is this racist as hell but it’s also eugenics talk and ableist! Protect your black, brown, and disabled neighbors! Disabled people were among the first to be targeted by nazis (and unsurprisingly it never gets mentioned.)
